Framework Agreement Signed between Sichuan Tourism University and the University of Memphis

On November 2, at the invitation of the University of Memphis, the President Lu Yi connected online with President Thomas J Nenon of the UofM in Meeting Room 428 of the Second Teaching Building to discuss the cooperation and exchanges between the two universities.

 

Lu introduced SCTU from the perspectives of school-running philosophy and positioning, disciplines, and curriculum characteristics. He expressed his hope that such cooperative relationship will be taken as an opportunity to enhance the cooperation and exchanges between two universities, promote interactions and visits between students and teachers, establish international courses, improve the internationalization of teachers and teaching resources, jointly set up academic and scientific research platforms, and promote continuing education for teachers and students. Dr. Thomas J Nenon has also been cordially invited to visit SCTU after the pandemic situation subsides. Dr. Thomas J Nenon expressed his anticipation of the meeting. He said that some of the unique and advantageous majors of the UofM are highly consistent with the majors of SCTU, hoping that a bridge of friendship will be set up between the two universities, and new channels for academic and scientific research, and international cooperation and exchanges between the teachers and students will be opened up to promote further development of the two universities through this cooperation. At the same time, Dr. Thomas J Nenon expressed that the UofM is always open for the presence of President Lu Yi and his fellow colleagues.

 

At the meeting, President Lu Yi and Dr. Thomas J Nenon concluded the “Framework Agreement between Sichuan Tourism University and the University of Memphis” online and mapped out corresponding arrangements for the majors to be cooperated and the following advancement plans. 

The responsible persons of the Academic Affairs Office, Hilton School of Hospitality Management, and International Cooperation and Exchanges Office accompanied the meeting.

The University of Memphis is a four-year public comprehensive research university in the United States. Founded in 1912, it is the most famous university in Tennessee. The UofM opens to students studying for a bachelor, master and doctoral degree. Moreover, its Hospitality Management program ranks 16th throughout the United States.
